Will you be coming off the cruise ship? The Oceania Regatta, should arrive by 8:30, we can start the tour as soon as 9AM, or as fast as you can get off the ship 🙂 We meet by the trolley on the other side of the railroad tracks when you walk off the port. You will see our small white bus and a sign. It is straight off the port. Thank you for booking with us! My cell phone is 206-965-0132 if you need to reach me for more directions. Thank you, Katie Earl
Look for the Onward Adventures white bus!
The tour of Astoria is a short version of the selfie tour. It is designed for the visitors off the cruise ships, but anyone can go. We meet near the trolley where our cruise visitors can choose if they would like to walk to town, take the trolley or hop on the bus. The tour supposed to be a two-hour tour, but we go over that time when we can.
We only can hold 14 people. We go to the Astoria Column where we stay there for approx. 20 minutes. If you commit to climbing the 164 stairs, we give you a plane to write your name and location on. When you get to the top you can watch your plane fly!
We then hop back on the bus and show you our beautiful view and historic homes. Our next stop is the Flavel house and Film Museum, we stay approx. Â for 20 minutes, just enough time to view the Goonies Jeep, jail and walk the beautiful grounds of the Flavel home.
When we all get back on the bus, we will drive through town showing some of our amazing buildings and heritage. We will also point out some places such as the Goonies house, Kindergarten Cop grade school.
Our next stop is Pier 39 where we walk over the bridge greeted by Sea lions on a dock out in the water. This is a ½ hour stop, just enough time for everyone to choose a fresh cool beer, or have the tastiest coffee and homemade pastries, or to buy a heart lock and sign it and add it to the locks of love collection. We also walk through the Bumble Bee Tuna Museum, guiding our guest through history. On the Pier they have a fantastic vending machine where you can buy an Astoria post card and stamp and so many more random things.   When we get back on the bus, we ask the group how they feel on time. If we have time, we have the group choose a few more stops such as:
Columbia River Maritime Museum, Fort George brewery, or to stop at Josephson’s Smoke House where the owner greets the guest with a handshake and the best clam chowder that only cost $5.00! From there you can see the other cruisers walking toward the boat so we get back on the bus the last time where we answer all questions and post them on our web and Facebook as a blog, “Curiosity of a Traveler”.
